Micky van de Ven has revealed the big change Roberto De Zerbi brought to Tottenham Hotspur and has aimed a veiled dig at Thomas Frank. It’s fair to say that the marriage between Spurs and Thomas Frank did not work out, with the Dane’s pragmatic approach never being accepted by the supporters. The relationship between the club and the fans had become strained under Frank, and the former Brentford boss eventually lost his job after eight months in charge.De Zerbi managed to unite the fan base again with his brand of football and managed to save the Lilywhites from relegation, with the Italian now setting his sights on a much bigger prize next season.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramMicky van de Ven is confident Tottenham will be much better to watch next seasonVan de Ven is confident that we will see a much different Spurs side under De Zerbi than the one we saw under the former Brentford boss. The Dutchman admitted that the Italian injected a completely different mentality and passion into the group when he arrived, confessing that he enjoyed the football under the 46-year-old a lot more than he did under Frank. When asked if the Lilywhites will be better to watch next season, the centre-back told Football.London: “I know that for sure. It’s going to be different compared to the former manager we had last season. It’s going to be more with the ball, more playing football. I think it’s going to be more enjoyable for people to watch, playing offensive football.“The last couple of weeks of last season, you saw he brought a lot of passion into our group, a lot mentality-wise, passion-wise, on the pitch. It is something we needed because everybody was a little bit down.“We started to play a lot with the ball, because he loves us to be on the ball, he loves to play the football he wants to play, and that’s also something I really enjoy.“Because I like being on the ball, instead of running behind the ball the whole time. He brings a lot of good energy and from pre-season, we have really got the time now to bring his football into the team. That’s really enjoyable.”Van de Ven admits players are determined to put things right after ‘unacceptable’ seasonThe 25-year-old revealed that there is a lot more positivity around the Spurs squad heading into the new campaign after the stressful time the players endured last season. He asserted that there is a determination in the group to put things right after a season which nearly ended in relegation disaster. When asked about the importance of bouncing back after nearly going down, the defender said: “It’s something we are going to work really hard on, making some differences because last season was a bit unacceptable from our side.“It’s better when you go with a fresh mind into the new season. Last season was stressful, so to leave everything of that behind and go into the new season fresh means a lot.”READ MORE: Tottenham face fresh £85.3m headache in race to sign Eli Junior KroupiThe post Micky van de Ven takes swipe at Thomas Frank while praising Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham appeared first on Spurs Web.
