Fraudsters create fake website of Kumarakrupa Guest House to cheat guests; case booked - The HinduPublished - July 27, 2026 07:44 pm IST - BengaluruThe Central CEN police have registered a case after unidentified persons allegedly created a fake website of the State government-run Kumarakrupa Guest House and cheated customers by accepting online payments for room bookings.According to the complaint filed by Karthik Santhosh, senior manager of the guest house, unidentified persons created a fake website (https://kumarkrupaguesthouse.in/) by misusing the name of the guest house.The police said the fraudsters allegedly offered online room bookings through the fake website and sent fabricated bills and invoices to customers, inducing them to make online payments. The scam came to light after several customers informed the guest house management that they had received fake booking confirmations and payment receipts.Based on the complaint, the Central CEN Crime police have registered an FIR. The police are investigating the operators of the fake website, tracing the digital trail, financial transactions and other electronic evidence to identify those behind the fraud.Sources in the government clarified that neither can members of the public book rooms paying money in the Kumarakrupa Guest House, nor do they have a website.Not the first timeThis is not the first time people have been cheated with fake bookings for rooms in the the government-run guest house.In June this year, a politician from Bijapur allegedly cheated of ₹99,666 by cyberfraudsters while attempting to book accommodation at the guest house through an online platform. In September 2025, a Punjab sessions court judge, who was visiting Bengaluru, was duped of ₹12,000 after a staff member in the Criminal Investigation Department shared a fake contact number sourced from Google.
