You'd be surprised the amount of people who don't understand the college admission process, tuition, financial aid, etc. Depending on the school it can be confusing (some schools bundle tuition). The mom said the daughter will be a 1st Gen college student, so they're both navigating the process for the first time. $6k doesn't seem too far fetched for tuition alone if the daughter is a resident, going to a state school, and possibly received a 1st Gen scholarship. Looks like the mom didn't factor in room & board, meal plan, etc. I don't see an issue with her reaching out again b/c she misunderstood, this doesn't seem like a choosing beggar situation because she doesn't sound entitled.
