All roads lead to the King George Saturday but we still have a good card to get stuck into at Ascot on Friday! The Listed Pat Eddery Stakes is the highlight with a prize pot of just shy of £40,000. Charlie Appleby has dominated it in recent years winning four of the last five renewals but is without a runner this time. Richard Hannon took it in 2020 with Chindit and again in 2023 with Rosallion so usually targets a smart one at it.Plenty of competitive handicaps on the card too as we look to bank some winners ahead of the big one on Saturday that is shaping up to be a mouthwatering renewal.Top horse racing offerKing George Raceday (Friday) tips2.20 Sorrengail – 11/4 with bet3652.55 Sonny Parvenue – 16/5 with SBK3.30 Kirchner – 11/8 with bet3654.05 Al Azd – 11/8 with Paddy Power NAP4.40 Mr Writer – 7/2 with bet3655.12 Paradise Walk – 2/1 with bet365 NEXT BESTJoe’s best horse racing betting tips for King George Friday Raceday (July 24)Find my top tips for Friday 24th July 2026 racing with odds from the best horse racing bookies below:2.20 Sports4Causes October Club EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (Class 3) 6fCharlie Appleby won this back in 2023 with Panarea and he looks to have a great chance again in the promising SORRENGAIL. This filly by Wootton Bassett did plenty wrong on debut and was still only beaten a length at the line. She was finishing fast and now the penny has dropped she should have a great chance here.Speed Of Sound was in front of her at Newmarket but did seem to have every chance. I’ll be surprised if the selection doesn’t turn form around with her here albeit she can improve too. Ash Tree was impressive on debut but has to give weight away as a result but could still be the danger. Bet on SORRENGAIL to win at 11/4 with bet365 2.55 Flexjet Pat Eddery Stakes (Listed) (Class 1) 7fThe way SONNY PARVENUE hit the line to make a winning debut at Salisbury last month was impressive. He shaped as though he’d relish 7f and gets that here. This is a fair step up in grade but he is armed with potential and when you see the horses that Hannon has won this with before (Chindit and Rosallion) it would be no surprise if he proved up to the task.Silver Dominion sprung a surprise winning at 14/1 on debut and then wasn’t disgraced in a Group 2 at Newmarket last time. This is easier than that and he could have more to come so looks the likely danger. Alfred Wallace and Gymbaazy also made the shortlist and deserve plenty of respect too. Bet on SONNY PARVENUE to win at 16/5 with SBK 3.30 John Guest Racing Brown Jack Handicap (Class 3) 2mFavourites have a good record in this and with just four runners heading to post I’m expecting KIRCHNER to prove hard to beat.He has only had three starts for this yard and ran a career best beating all bar Align The Stars in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last month. He has more to come over two miles and is worth keeping on side off the back of that effort.Synergism was third a place behind the selection last time and did win at Lingfield prior to that. He is clearly talented but can race keenly and that will count against him at this trip and on this track. He should run well again though. Fireblade is consistent but needs more and Ghaiyya has a tough ask here. Bet on KIRCHNER to win at 11/8 with bet365 4.05 Sodexo Live! Handicap (Class 2) 1m4fI thought that was a huge run from AL AZD to finish second in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. He was beaten just half a length and the winner Enceladus looks a progressive colt for Joseph O’Brien. The form has already been boosted a few times and as long as they go a good gallop I think he’ll be the one finishing best of all under Ray Dawson.Study Of Words is the obvious danger. He is still unexposed having only had a handful of starts and while he has been a bit underwhelming both starts this season this trip could suit and he might be able to bounce back.Merveilleux Lapin needs to improve but it is still early days for her as well so don’t rule out a better effort here. Bet on AL AZD to win at 11/8 with Paddy Power 4.40 Chapel Down Handicap (Class 4) 7fWith two wins from his last three starts MR WRITER is looking progressive. I thought he showed a good attitude to come out on top at Leicester last time and his form is stacking up so a 4lb rise could be manageable. The stable have been among the winners of late too so that is another positive.Havana Blue was only denied a neck over C&D when last seen and must enter calculations off the back of that. At an each way price Walson’s Law is down 2lb from Doncaster and might show up better here as he has gone well at this track in the past. Bet on MR WRITER to win at 7/2 with bet365 5.12 Sodexo Live! Fillies’ Handicap (Class 4) 5fTrainer Ralph Beckett took this 12 months ago with Galaxy Zoo and he looks to hold the key again with the progressive PARADISE WALK. This filly by Starman impressed opening her account at Windsor back in May and then she followed up gamely on handicap debut at Nottingham last time. She has untapped potential over 5f and despite a 4lb rise could be up to landing the hat-trick now.Lara Antipova looked good winning at Lingfield and despite being a bit underwhelming on handicap debut at Newmarket could run well here with this track likely to suit. Dandy Magic is another one to note if she builds on that latest effort. Bet on PARADISE WALK to win at 2/1 with bet365 My top tip for King George Raceday on FridayI’m confident AL AZD will back up that Royal Ascot run to go one better here. He looks a horse at the top of his game right now so keep on side!I have doubled him up with PARADISE WALK in the lucky last as she bids to complete the hat-trick.
