A self-professed “goth girl” on TikTok said she booked an 11-bedroom house for just $30 a night, but after discovering books about murder in the living room, an unsettling layout, and a completely locked room that she and her friend jokingly dubbed the “murder room,” she decided she’d seen enough. The story was posted by a TikTok account with the username @anelaonalani, and she explained that she usually embraces all things creepy. This time, however, the red flags she encountered felt a little too close for comfort. She ended up spending only about 20 minutes inside before relocating to a hotel. The video has an undeniably eerie atmosphere as she walks through the seemingly endless rooms. The way it is filmed looks like it could fit right into Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. What truly gave her pause, however, was finding several books about murder sitting prominently on the living room shelves. The two found the overall setup unsettling, but when they reached the kitchen, an entirely new concern presented itself. There was a door leading to an unknown room that was completely locked. That was the space they jokingly labeled the “murder room.” The house was so enormous that it was difficult to imagine anyone making use of all that space in a single night. Stories about haunted mansions have always been everywhere. Pop culture is overflowing with horror stories about massive houses hiding dark secrets behind ordinary doors. So it’s hardly surprising that people, whether justified or not, would begin convincing themselves that they, too, were about to become the opening scene of a horror movie. Perhaps even less surprising was how the night ended. They simply packed up and checked into a hotel instead.
