Part 1: I had an alcoholic uncle who feel backwards from a three story apartment in Glendale California... There was these walkways that lead to each unit which are accessed from the outside like some old motels do but the siding stuff or fence/railing or whatever Im supposed to call that makes sure people don't fall over was only my waist high for someone who stands over 6 feet tall. Well my uncle was staying with my mom and one day he got drunk as usual and apparently was leaning his butt on it (he had been warned multiple times that it's very unsafe to do this but he did it anyways) and ended up falling over it backwards and landed exactly on his head... He was still alive tho but we thought realistically he was going to die any moment. Well he survived but who was left over had turned from a normal but alcoholic person who was very mentally sharp into someone who lacked most basic social skills and had all kinds of mental issues. He could not remember things well anymore and would continually forget what he's doing or what he's supposed to do. Later on He also became a paranoid schizophrenic and we don't know if the brain injury had anything to do with onset of that but it happened. It was very very hard to care for him and if it had not been for my mom he would certainly have been homeless for the rest of his life cause he just couldn't care for himself but his personality was so horrid by this point that no one wanted him and even when the nursing home ideas were tried he kept getting kicked out ... His checks from the government hardly covered rent in his apartments and he kept getting himself evicted or doing damage that caused high fees that came out of my moms pocket and the cost of food and other things.. He was the kind of guy by this point that would swear his children were at the neighbors house and try to busy in, get himself arrested or sent to a loony house temporarily but then released for whatever reason a few months later and then be back on the street until we tracked him down and got him an appointment again.. Rinse and repeat and we constantly needed more help to deal with him that somehow the system would not due when he was clearly unstable. He would wear the same dirty cloths for months straight even tho we did his laundry and he hated it and would accuse us of trying to "steam and steal" his shit stained clothing..
