This sub is very informative but now I'm scared of minoxidil

Wait 5 sec.

Basically title. For context, I always had thin, frizzy hair, and I never had much hair. This is true for everyone in my mother's family, especially women, and the situation gets very bad after their 40s. Not different for me. Since my early 30s I have done yearly checkups including several blood tests (luckily everything is good), exercise regularly, etc. I see a dermatologist every year because of some skin tags. I'm close to my 40s and my hair started to fall at an abnormal rate over the last 2 years. I mentioned that to my dermatologist on my last visit. After some extra checks, he confirms this is AGA. He prescribed OM 1.25, said this is usually safe and provided an amazing explanation of what I can expect when I start taking it, etc. (Note: foam was out of the question because my scalp is very sensitive). I got the prescription and then read this sub. Besides learning a lot (thanks everyone!), I'm also panicking and the minoxidil is now sitting intact on my night stand. At the same time I feel privileged for being able to afford blood tests, a dermatologist and get access to the prescription, I am also terrified with the side effects. Sorry for the rant. Anyone else in the same boat? (On a happy note, thank you all for sharing your journeys, good and not so good ones.) submitted by /u/haveaproof [link] [comments]
