New GTA mod creates live portals between GTA 3’s Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas

Wait 5 sec.

While you wait for GTA 6, why not pay the wildest and most comprehensive visit possible to the world of the PlayStation 2 GTA trilogy? Modder DryxioGTA’s Dryxio takes obvious cues from the portals in Valve’s Portal, as these are actual doors to the locations in the other games in the series. You can cross over at any given time through portals conveniently placed on landmark spots such as San Andreas’ Grove Street, or simply interact with another game’s area from where you stand, which mostly means that you get to shoot at other people or cars. This was made possible by having the three games running in the background at all times, which means you’re literally jumping from one game to another. Dryxio also reported that all three games work independently, so interacting with the GTA 3 AI will not get the San Andreas and Vice City cops all after you at once. You can make separate progress in each of the three games, with separate save files that will prevent any sort of file corruption—or reality-ending time paradox—from taking place. Being able to so easily make the jump from such unique but equally nostalgic worlds must be quite the thrill. It also makes me even sadder about the infamous GTA remastered trilogy, knowing full well that Rockstar had the money and tools to give players a similar gameplay hub. While Dryxio has yet to make the mod fully available to the public, it’s reportedly coming out before GTA 6 arrives on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Meanwhile, he invites players to follow the development on his GitHub page and to make use of the myriad GTA modding tools he’s made available over the years. I have experienced a lot of GTA mods over the years. And, at a time when people are losing it over the wait for GTA 6 to come out, this is one of the most promising ones out there, as well as likely the best way to reminisce about what GTA used to be and to get ready for what’s to come.0The post New GTA mod creates live portals between GTA 3’s Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas appeared first on Destructoid.
