Samsung spoke about its intelligent eyewear collaboration with Google, Qualcomm, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster at Unpacked today, revealing a few details about its first attempt at this category. It's also known that Samsung is working on its own Galaxy Glasses, and some reports have suggested that the company may also have an augmented reality display version coming next year. Samsung may have just hinted at that during Unpacked. A reasonable conclusion to draw from the remarksThe COO of Samsung's mobile division, Won-Joon Choi, took to the stage today and talked about Samsung's work on intelligent eyewear alongside the partners named above. He mentioned during his remarks that Samsung was starting out in this category “with a non-display model.”He didn't explicitly say that there's going to be a model with a display, but one can reasonably draw the conclusion from his remarks that Samsung specifying it's starting out with a non-display model likely means it's going to release a display-based model at some point in the future.There have already been countless rumors about Samsung working on two distinct Galaxy-branded smart glasses. One would be similar to what it showed today, the other is said to feature an augmented reality display which would likely project its interface on the lens itself.It wouldn't be surprising when that product eventually comes out, as AR-based displays are just the next frontier for this product category, so it's definitely going to happen at some point in the future.
