Athletics action at the 2026 Commonwealth Games gets underway on Monday, with the men’s 100m headlining the opening day’s programme.Ghana will be represented by a formidable sprint trio comprising national record holder Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati and Isaac Botsio, all of whom are set to compete in the first round of the men’s 100m. Saminu has been drawn in Heat 2, while Azamati will race in Heat 5, where he will line up alongside Cameroon’s Claude Emmanuel Itoungue.Botsio will compete in Heat 9, facing Trinidad and Tobago’s Omari Lewis as he bids to secure progression to the next stage.The top two athletes in each heat will qualify automatically for the semi-finals. The heats are scheduled to begin at 9:10 a.m. Ghana time.
