I've never understood why people think government benefits financially justify having a kid. I don't know how much you actually get when qualified, but I have three kids and I just can't imagine the government would ever hand me enough money to cover their costs. I remember during COVID getting +$500 stimulus per kid, and a bunch of childfree people were like OH GREAT MUST BE NICE I GUESS I'M BEING PUNISHED FOR NOT HAVING A KID... And I was like LMAO are you fucking kidding me. Do people just have no idea how much a kid costs? A one time $500 payment would be gone in like a month just on that one kid's needs alone (god forbid you have crappy insurance, too), and people were acting like they'd just be driving government lambos if they'd popped out some kids. Do they feed the children in this hilarious fantasy?
