Wait 5 sec.

When I went back to work after having my son I ended up working alongside a couple of young women (19/20) they were lovely people but one of them was very .... Sheltered ? Naive? And frankly a bit dim. She added me of Facebook and later was like your life looks so amazing your baby is so cute, you're so happy, everything looks perfect a d amazing and I want it so badly. My 'social media' btw at the time was literally JUST that. Crappy candid shots of my kid smiling or us going for a walk in the park that I posted largely for family and friends I had on FB. It wasnt even like, staged or curated Instagram you know. I explicitly sat her down and told her that social media is in no way representative of real life parenting. My photos were selected happy moments ofc. Because I'm not photoing or video myself having a 2am meltdown because he won't stop crying. I didn't snap a pic of the projectile poop that went all over my floor or the time I was sleep deprived and burnt out and lost my patience and yeeted a bottle across a room so hard it smashed. I don't come into work and vent about my sore nipples or my tiredness or my frustration in trying to get an infant to use a spoon. I haven't told you about the eight hours I spent at a and e because he was sick or the middle of the night googling about everything because he's awake and I'm awake and whhhhyyyy are we awake. I told her the cost. She got pregnant less than a year later went on maternity leave and never came back. Afaik from mutuals, dad was never around and she's still living with her mum. You can spell it out to some people and they either will not believe you, not listen or not care. Because baby.
