A fan was hospitalised after a bus carrying fans of an Argentine club was attacked by gunfire on Tuesday night.The incident occurred following the Copa Sudamericana match between Nacional of Uruguay and Argentina’s Tigre.A bus carrying Tigre fans was attacked with gunfire after their match against Nacional on TuesdayAFPIt comes just two days after the national team was beaten in the World Cup final.Argentina suffered a 1-0 extra-time loss to Spain at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.Fans attackedFootage from after the shooting showed bullet holes and damage to windows on a coach which had been transporting Tigre fans back to Buenos Aires.The floor of the vehicle was also covered in blood in the horrifying video after the bus came under attack.It followed the first leg of the two sides’ knockout play-off round tie at Gran Parque Central in Montevideo.Tigre won the match 3-0 against their 10-man opponents, with around 2,000 travelling supporters understood to have been in attendance.However, their victory was later marred by a shooting involving the fan bus after the fixture.According to La Derecha Diario, the coach was hit with 10 bullets, with one fan struck in the arm.The supporter was subsequently taken to hospital, where they were visited by club president Martin Suarez.Footage from the aftermath of the attack also showed the tyres had been damaged by the gunfire along with smashed windows.One supporter was hospitalised after being hit in the arm with a bullet during the attack, according to reportsX / @Barras_LATAMView Tweet: https://t.co/1fGiesWiyITigre club statementIn a statement, Tigre condemned the ‘extremely serious’ acts of violence towards their supporters.The club said: “Club Atlético Tigre expresses its strongest repudiation regarding the extremely serious acts of violence suffered by our members, both male and female, and fans during their return trip from the city of Montevideo, in the context of the match played against Club Nacional de Uruguay.“In response to these regrettable events, the institution implemented the corresponding contingency measures to ensure the safety of our members. In the early hours of this morning, the group traveling by bus arrived in Buenos Aires.“Likewise, the club reports that, among the injured and affected by the incident, the member who required medical assistance at the scene was transferred to a local hospital.“After receiving the appropriate treatment, he remained lodged at the hotel where the club’s delegation was staying, accompanied at all times by institutional leaders and in constant contact with the medical team, which monitored his progress.“This morning, the institution arranged for his return transfer to Buenos Aires, after confirming a favourable evolution in his health condition.Tigre have condemned the ‘extremely serious’ violence aimed at their supportersX / @Barras_LATAM“From our institution, we repudiate these events and absolutely condemn any manifestation of violence.“Football must be a celebration, and under no circumstances should we accept that the physical integrity of our people is put at risk.”The two clubs are set to meet in the second leg of their tie in Argentina next week.Tigre will defend their three-goal lead at home to Nacional on Tuesday, July 28.
