Woman returns to $200+ a night Hilton Orlando room and thinks housekeeping really cleaned. Then front desk tells her to ‘check the lost and found’

Wait 5 sec.

A traveler said her hotel room at the Hilton Orlando was cleared out of nearly all her belongings during an overnight stay, with only her toothbrush and toothpaste left behind. The woman, who posts under the username Nadine (@roxystar80) on TikTok, shared the account in a video with the caption, “They took my clothes, drinks and shower stuff but left my toothbrush and toothpaste.” According to Nadine, she was in Orlando for a work conference and had been staying at the hotel since Monday night. She said she had her Do Not Disturb preference on and did not usually ask staff to clean her room. Nadine said she left the hotel on Wednesday for work and an evening event, then returned late at night planning to sleep before the next day of the conference. She said the room looked freshly cleaned when she got back Nadine said that when she walked into her room that night, it looked like housekeeping had cleaned it, even though she had not requested the service. “That’s cool,” she recalled thinking in the video, adding that she assumed staff had simply tidied up as a courtesy. @roxystar80 They took my clothes, drinks and shower stuff but left my toothbrush and toothpaste #onlyme #traveltiktok #hotel #missing #fypシ ♬ original sound – 𝒩𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑒 She said she looked for her pajamas but could not find them right away and assumed she may have left them elsewhere. She said she then brushed her teeth using her toothbrush and toothpaste, which were still in the bathroom, and went to sleep without checking further. The next morning, Nadine said she opened the drawers to get clothes for the conference and realized her clothing was missing. She said she then noticed other items were gone as well, including sodas and coconut water from the fridge, snacks, and her shower items. She also said a baseball cap and two aluminum water bottles that had been left out, along with paperwork for the conference, were missing. Nadine described the water bottles as inexpensive in the video. Nadine said she called the front desk to report the missing items. According to her account, staff told her, “Oh, I don’t know what to tell you. You could come down and check the lost and found if you want.” She said she did not want to visit the lost and found and felt she should not have to. Nadine said that at that point, she had only the jacket and clothes she had worn the night before. In the video, Nadine said she was taking the situation “surprisingly well” and laughed while describing it, though she said she expected to feel more upset later. She said she waited to hear back from hotel staff but grew increasingly frustrated as time passed.  Nadine said she ultimately decided to stop pursuing the matter because she needed to get to her conference on time. “When I think about the value of the items versus my sanity, it’s actually not worth it for me,” she said in the video, adding that she did not want to risk missing her check-in over the lost belongings. She said she was most upset about losing her water and soda out of everything that went missing. @roxystar80 Replying to @Jennifer Cooper MacD #hotel #travelnightmare #orlando #fypシ ♬ original sound – 𝒩𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑒 In a follow-up video, Nadine said she believed the situation started as an “honest mistake,” suggesting staff may have thought she had checked out. She noted, however, that staff apparently realized their error at some point, since her toothbrush and toothpaste were left behind and her key card still worked. Nadine said her main concern the next morning was not having water to take her medicine, since her water had also been taken. She said she went to the front desk to explain the situation, and the attendant initially responded, “What do you want me to do? What do you want?” She said the attendant suggested she buy water from the hotel’s 24-hour market or use a nearby water fountain. Nadine said this response upset her, since she felt she was not asking for anything unreasonable. “I would really love a water. Could I just get a bottle of water so I could take my medicine?” she recalled asking. According to Nadine, she told the attendant, “Listen, this is not my fault that this happened. Y’all like took my stuff and I’m upset. And I understand mistakes happen, but the way you’re responding to this mistake is absolutely wrong.” She said the attendant then said he would get his manager, but returned and told her the manager wanted her to meet with security instead. Nadine said she met with security and filled out an incident report listing the items and their values, though she reiterated that her concern was less about the value of the items and more about how the situation was handled. She said she later called Hilton Corporate on her drive home, describing the representative as understanding and said she was told the hotel would follow up. Nadine said the hotel’s desk manager called her back the next morning and told her staff had located only a hat. She said none of her other items, including her clothing, bath products, and conference notes, were recovered. She said the manager apologized and told her nothing else could be done. Guest service breakdowns at hotels have drawn attention online before, including a case involving a hotel with no overnight staff available to help a guest. @roxystar80 Replying to @Lauren still no luck but I’m hopeful. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and for tagging @hilton in my videos. I do believe this was initially an honest mistake however, the response of the staff was unprofessional and now I’m wondering where my stuff is because my first contact with Security. They told me that everything found in a room is bagged together. Now nothing else can be accounted for? #travelnightmare #hotel #fypシ #orlando ♬ original sound – 𝒩𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑒 In a later video responding to a commenter, Nadine said she was surprised by how many people described similar experiences in her comments section, saying she had originally assumed her situation was a “one-off.” She said she called Hilton Corporate again and was told the matter would be escalated to hotel management and housekeeping, with a callback expected within 24 to 48 hours. She said the front desk manager had already told her, with security present, that housekeeping confirmed removing her items from the room, but that nothing beyond the hat could be recovered. Nadine said she remained frustrated, particularly over the loss of her conference papers and notes, which she said could not be replaced and would have no value to anyone else. @roxystar80 Replying to @Joyce B #traveltiktok #hotelnightmare #fypシ #orlando ♬ original sound – 𝒩𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑒 In a separate video, Nadine addressed a comment from a viewer who identified themselves as a hotel employee and said hotels are required to keep found items for 30 days, suggesting she contact Hilton to identify the property’s management company for compensation.  Nadine said security had told her something similar early on, explaining that items removed from a room are bagged together by room number, and that a staff member said he would look for her belongings without promising they would be recovered. Hotel guests sometimes encounter unsettling surprises in their rooms, like when a Washington man dropped something and a hand reached out from under the bed.  Nadine said it was “strange” that the front desk manager later told her, with security present, that housekeeping had confirmed taking her items but that only the hat could be found. “So where’s my stuff?” she said in the video. Nadine also confirmed she filed a police report with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, which she said was first assigned a temporary number and has since been accepted into the system with a permanent report number. @roxystar80 Replying to @Mack Ret#traveltiktokh#hotelnightmaref#fypシo#orlando ♬ original sound – Music ygv 8 In a fifth video, Nadine said Hilton messaged her on TikTok after viewers tagged the company in her posts, which she said made her hopeful the situation would be resolved. She said Hilton then provided a corporate email address, to which she sent a detailed account of the situation along with her confirmation number. According to Nadine, corporate responded quickly but told her, in her characterization, that the matter was not a corporate issue and had been sent back to the property. She said she already had an open case with the hotel directly. “It’s obvious that corporate cannot or will not do anything at this point,” she said in the video, adding that she had already filed a report with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and did not know whether it would affect the outcome.
