Prime Minister Robert Abela has confirmed that the situation in St Julian’s is now under control following today’s major police operation.In a social media post, Abela said both alleged aggressors involved in the incident are now in police custody, while all members of the Malta Police Force have safely left the scene.“My thoughts are with the police officers who were injured, as well as with their families,” he wrote.Abela concluded his statement by saying: “Now, justice must be served.”The incident saw two police officers injured after a suspect allegedly opened fire during an operation linked to an alleged arson attack at a nearby construction site. One officer suffered slight injuries, while another remains in a very serious condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to the face and neck.•
