Rights panel takes suo motu cognisance of suspected food poisoning at BC girls gurukul school - The HinduUpdated - July 24, 2026 07:05 pm IST - HYDERABADThe Telangana Human Rights Commission (THRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of the suspected food poisoning incident at the BC Girls Gurukul School in Bellampalli, Mancherial district, where around 30 students allegedly fell ill after consuming food served in the hostel.According to an order issued by the Commission on Friday, the action was initiated based on a news report published in a Telugu daily on July 24. The report stated that the students complained of vomiting, stomach pain and nausea after eating food at the hostel, while seven students whose condition deteriorated were shifted to the Area Hospital in Mancherial for treatment.Observing that the allegations, if found to be true, raise serious concerns over the protection of the human rights of children studying in government residential educational institutions, the Commission said the incident warranted examination.
