Houston, we've got a first-world problem.Samsung just dropped its new foldables yesterday, and I was super hyped after getting my hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup. Being media, Samsung hooked us up with review samples right after the show.Everything was cool until it hit me: I'm kinda over the new Ultra model. Is this just a phase or for real? That's the big question.I'm really digging the Galaxy Z Fold 8's new shape. I've spent years using Samsung's tall and narrow Fold cover displays, and while I always defended them, typing on them never felt completely natural. The Fold 8 changes that.Browsing SamMobile, replying to messages, and scrolling social media all felt great from the get-go. I don't feel like I'm compromising because of the narrow design. And whenever I want a bigger screen, I can simply unfold the phone and get the tablet experience I expect from a Fold.As you probably know, I've been a foldable phone user since day one, always hyping up Galaxy foldables on SamMobile. Even our editor-in-chief gets annoyed with me because I see the potential while he still thinks they're not quite there yet. Now? I think this new one will change even his mind after he spends some time with the Galaxy Z Fold 8.Okay, I know I'm an early adopter, and things might change over the next few months. But I'm also the kind of guy who thinks phone cameras have been good enough for ages, and the smaller and more pocket-friendly a device is, the better. So I'm not pining for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.Sure, design is functional, but the Galaxy Z Fold 8 manages to deliver both form and function. It feels easier to use every day without giving up what makes a Fold special.Did Samsung just outdo its Ultra model with this one? Right now, it sure feels that way.The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is still the more capable device on paper. It has the bigger battery, more versatile cameras, and a few exclusive features. But after my first day with both phones, the one I keep wanting to pick up is the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8.Maybe it's just the honeymoon phase. Or maybe Samsung finally found the Fold form factor I've been waiting for all these years. Either way, there's still a lot more to uncover, so stay tuned.
