The closure follows a separate Amazon facility shutdown in the state that affected more than 600 workers.Together, the two notices show how Amazon is adjusting its enormous fulfillment network even as the company handles more orders, delivers products faster, and opens its logistics infrastructure to outside businesses.Amazon closes Port St. Lucie facility, cuts 494 jobsAmazon, the e-commerce giant, will shut down operations at its PBI3 facility at 7600 LTC Parkway in Port St. Lucie, Florida, effective Sept. 17, according to a WARN notice reviewed by TheStreet.The closure is expected to affect approximately 494 employees, with separations taking place on Sept. 17 and Dec. 17. The closure affected approximately 616 employees. The largest affected group at the Homestead site consisted of 506 FC Associate I employees. The cuts also affected managers, transportation associates, safety employees, medical representatives, and human resources workers.Combined, the Port St. Lucie and Homestead closures affect approximately 1,110 Amazon employees in Florida.Both notices use similar language.
