The World Economic Forum estimates that nearly 40 per cent of workers' existing skills will require updating within the next five years as artificial intelligence, automation and digital technologies reshape industries. Ironically, because of this mismatch, many Indian businesses struggle to fill vacancies. Youngsters, particularly Gen Z and younger millennials, are unwilling to accept jobs where salaries are deducted for training. They are equally reluctant to take up roles that offer low pay, limited learning opportunities and poor work-life balance.
