22F - Hair thinning after iron/folate deficiency. Anything else I should be doing?

Wait 5 sec.

Hi everyone! I'm 22F and have recently started taking better care of my hair. I used to have severe shedding (clogging the shower drain, hair everywhere), but over the past few months it's improved significantly. I now lose fewer than 20 hairs in the shower and very little when brushing. I think stress from college played a role, as I've recently graduated. My main concern now is regrowth and thinning along my crown/centre part. My blood work showed: * Serum iron: **4.6 µmol/L (low)** * Transferrin saturation: **8.5% (low)** * Ferritin: **104.8 µg/L (normal)** * Folic acid: **1.5 µg/L (low)** My thyroid and the rest of my blood work were normal. I'm waiting for prescriptions for iron and folic acid, and I already take vitamin D. **Current routine:** * Wash 2×/week with Nature Spell Growth Shampoo * Nature Spell Conditioner or L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil Hair Mask * L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil on mids/ends * The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum on my scalp after wash days and nightly on non-wash days * Homemade scalp oil the night before wash day Is there anything else I should be doing for regrowth, or is treating the iron and folate deficiencies and sticking to this routine the best approach? I'm trying to avoid wasting money on products recommended by influencers. Thank you! submitted by /u/causalies [link] [comments]
