It said the airport would help position the State as a destination for global investment and sustainable development.Visakhapatnam Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore reviewed the campaign arrangements at a meeting with officials at the Collectorate on Monday. He directed officials to ensure adequate transport, food and drinking water arrangements for people travelling to the inaugural programme and entrusted responsibilities to the departments concerned to ensure the campaign is conducted smoothly.Countdown screens have already been installed at prominent locations, while all government offices have been directed to be illuminated on July 31.Under the theme “My District Takes Off”, schools will organise essay-writing, quiz and drawing competitions, with winners to be given an opportunity to attend the Prime Minister’s inaugural programme. Folk performances commemorating freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju will be held at Pandrangi village and other locations.Special programmes to promote tribal products such as Araku coffee and turmeric, along with meetings with industrialists to explore international marketing opportunities, will also be organised. Sports events, including cricket and beach volleyball tournaments, student flash mobs and large-scale rangoli competitions, form part of the campaign.In Visakhapatnam, an “Opportunity Hub” career expo involving information technology and global capability centre (GCC) companies will be held on July 30 and 31.
