TORONTO — Canadian stores say a plush red dragon on a stick has been flying off shelves since the Toronto Blue Jays celebrated with the toy earlier this month. After left fielder Jonatan Clase notched a three-run home run against the San Francisco Giants on July 7 with the dragon, it’s sold out at many retailers.Keeley Cea, assistant manager of Simply Wonderful Toys, says the dragon has been stocked by the Guelph, Ont., store for years but sold out of all its inventory the night of Clase’s big play.Cea says the shop has now placed an order for even more dragons and has a waitlist for when they arrive.Over at Toy Town in Toronto, the dragon has been just as popular. Owner Shari Bricks says the company sold out of the few it had soon after the Jays debuted the dragon. Her shop has since got a restock of the toy made by U.S. manufacturer Schylling, but only has six left.
