We just got our second trailer for the upcoming live-action Resident Evil movie from Weapons and Barbarian director Zack Cregger. There's been a lot of discussion about whether or not this movie will do the source material justice, but the new trailer definitely sells the idea a lot better than the last one: this is a movie based on what it's like to play Resident Evil, but set in the Resident Evil universe. Finding new weapons, scrounging for ammo and supplies, and frantically trying to avoid enemies are all crucial parts of the survival horror experience, and this trailer gives us glimpses of all that without spoiling what happens in the movie. After all, the fun part of a horror movie is not knowing what's lurking behind every corner. Leon Kennedy probably isn't going to show up, but will show us new corners of Raccoon City, new creatures hiding there, and will probably feature a few easter eggs along the way. And hey, ya know what? If it sucks, at least we have Resident Evil Veronica to look forward to, and whatever new games Capcom has in the works after that.
