I (29F) started taking Minoxidil 2.5mg twice a day the second week of June! It seemed like 2.5mg was on the higher end of the spectrum. And per Google, 1.25mg was still effective but less side effects. I called the office to ask if my dose was higher for starting and if we should start at half of it and then work up, but the tech said no my dose was fine and dismissed it. If im being honest I would have rather started low and then had the option to go higher bc I hear it’s more forgiving vs the alternative of starting high and stepping down. I feel overall fine on it, but it’s 7 weeks later, and my hair on my body is growing rapidly. I just cut my hair mid May and now my hair needs another cut. Any shaved hair is noticeable in a couple days! And my FACIAL HAIR IS GOING CRAZY. they’re coming in black. And theyre heavily concentrated in density and length on my upper lip, my forehead, the edges of my cheeks. They’re also growing where my pores are (that little triangle where girls put concealer) but they’re a little less dense there compared to the Chewbacca nature everywhere else. Basically my whole face is hairy!!! I sat there tweezing my unibrow and mustache last night, only to google remedies today and see tweezing is not actually recommended. I don’t like all this extra hair everywhere. Is this a universal experience or do people drop doses when this happens? And are still happy when dropping? But I also fear another shedding phase if I tell them to lower my dose. Maybe I would only split one dose, or maybe I can take only one pill a day instead of twice a day. I want results and my hair to fill in, but it’s not a race for me. So if 2.5mg total daily dose (instead of 2.5mg day and night) will still give me steady results without side effects, I would be happier. But would my hair still respond to a lower dose after 2 months of high dose? Or would I go into another long shed and get mediocre results. I also take doxycycline and spironolactone that were originally prescribed for acne. And Litfulo for hair. submitted by /u/bubblegumnicole [link] [comments]
