Residents were temporarily evacuated yesterday afternoon after a car caught fire inside a semi-basement garage in Birkirkara.Firefighters from the Civil Protection Department’s Stations 2 and 11 rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze, which involved an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.As a precaution, people living directly above the garage, along with occupants of nearby residences, were evacuated while firefighters worked to bring the situation under control.The fire was successfully extinguished and no injuries were reported.Officers from the Malta Police Force’s District 9 and a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department also assisted during the operation.The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.•
