I live in Canada. The bank in my city used to be more of a free for all during covid but they were grtting overwhelmed so they reinstated the checks last year. Additionally there are only certain days a week where people can pick up food. You cant just show whenever. They do get veggies and produce though which seems to be better than most food banks from what Im gatheting in this thread.
