Lidl Malta is reducing lighting across all 12 of its stores for the next month in a bid to help ease pressure on the national power grid during the ongoing heatwave.Starting from today, the supermarket chain will cut internal lighting by 25% across its outlets in Malta and Gozo, including shopping areas, aisles and back-of-house spaces.The retailer said the measure is intended to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours while ensuring customer safety, product visibility and store operations remain unaffected.Lidl Malta Director Owen Micallef said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the wider community during a period of increased strain on the country’s electricity infrastructure.The company, which is ISO 50001 Energy Management certified, already uses LED lighting and intelligent climate control systems across its stores.Should more businesses follow Lidl’s lead?•
