India plans to build at least five small modular reactors by 2033. These reactors will broaden nuclear power use and reduce coal reliance. Different designs are being developed for power generation and hydrogen production. The government has committed over $2 billion to develop these reactors. India aims for an eleven-fold expansion in nuclear installations by 2047.
