For the first time since euro banknotes were introduced on 1st January 2002, the cash across the European Union is about to get a design overhaul… and you can have a say on what they’re going to look like.Last week, the European Central Bank unveiled 10 shortlisted design proposals for the next series of banknotes. Over 1,200 applications had been received from graphic designers across the continent, with 25 being invited to create design proposals for one or both themes – ‘European culture’ and ‘Rivers and birds’. An independent jury of 21 experts brought it down to the 10 presented to the general public. By the end of the year, the Governing Council is expected to take the final decision on the new design.
