Glorious Goodwood is here! Five days of top class action on the Sussex Downs and I will be covering every single race across the week. There are some really exciting names lining up to do battle including unbeaten Guineas and Royal Ascot hero Bow Echo.As always at Glorious Goodwood there is plenty of value to be had and it can often pay to look away from the obvious. The opening day has three Group races including the feature the Goodwood Cup Stakes where Scandinavia is looking to defend his crown and extend his winning sequence to seven straight.Quick Glorious Goodwood day 1 tips (Tuesday, July 28)1.50 Al Aali each way – 8/1 with BoyleSports2.25 Al Hudaiba – 7/4 with Spreadex NEXT BEST3.00 Qirat each way – 39/10 with SBK3.35 Scandinavia – evens with bet365 NAP4.10 Wheels Of Fire each way – 28/1 with bet3654.45 Launch Sequence – 7/4 with Betfred5.20 Annastarzy each way – 9/2 with Coral5.55 Bintaryana each way – 13/2 with bet365Joe’s win double: AL HUDAIBA and SCANDINAVIA at 4/1 with bet365Joe’s best horse racing betting tips for Glorious Goodwood Festival day 1Find my top tips for Tuesday 28th July 2026 racing with odds from the best horse racing bookies below:1.50 Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap (Class 2) (4YO plus) 1m2fA fiercely competitive opener where plenty are in with a chance. The booking of William Buick on AL AALI catches the eye though and this 4yo improved on recent form to win impressively at Newmarket last time. He is up 5lb but remains well treated on his French Group runs and could be a big player here for a yard in great form recently saddling 6 winners from their last 18 runners.Yabher was impressive at this track on penultimate start and despite running poorly at York could bounce back returned to this venue and go close. Quai De Bethune hasn’t won since nailing Seraph Gabriel at Royal Ascot last year but did run well at Epsom and had excuses at York so could be capable of getting involved here. Bet on AL AALI Each Way at 8/1 with BoyleSports 2.25 Coral Vintage Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2YO only) 7fCharlie Appleby took this with Pinatubo a few years ago and again in 2024 with Aomori City. He saddles Newmarket winner AL HUDAIBA who looks to have outstanding claims. This Dark Angel colt has won three from four now and showed a great attitude to edge out the promising Abraham Lincoln last time. That form is very strong and with further improvement to come he can complete the hat-trick here.Haffner was second to Abraham Lincoln on debut and then improved to win at Newmarket last time. He is going the right way too and with more to come should make a race of it. Pikachu has ground to make up with the favourite on that last run but is still a nice horse and should acquit himself well here. Bet on AL HUDAIBA to win at 7/4 with Spreadex 3.00 HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (3YO plus) 7fI can’t help but feel Lake Forest is too short here. I know he was impressive at Haydock but he was beaten convincingly in this last year and got going too late at Royal Ascot last time. He has obvious form claims but at the prices I’m opposing.QIRAT is unbeaten around Goodwood making it 3-3 to win the Sussex Stakes off the front 12 months ago. He was back to his best winning at York last month and is a danger to all here.Witness Stand won this last year and despite a poor run at Chester could have a chance at a nice price on debut for his new yard. Marvelman was a good second on return and if building on that is another one that could get involved. Bet on QIRAT each way at 39/10 with SBK 3.35 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (3YO plus) 2mIt is difficult to look past SCANDINAVIA here. He won this 12 months ago and is now eyeing up seven wins in a row. He really dug deep to run down Trawlerman at Royal Ascot and I can see him beating that rival easier at this track. He must be a great horse to ride as he seems to answer every call and he deserves to be a short priced favourite.Trawlerman seems at the top of his game too and should run well again. He won on his only start at the track too which is another positive. Rahiebb looked good at York but failed to see out the trip last time so while he should appreciate dropping back here he still has a bit to find. Bet on SCANDINAVIA to win at evens with bet365 4.10 Coral Rewards Shaker Handicap (Class 2) (3YO plus) 5fThis is quite comfortably the toughest race of the day now but there is one I like at a price! WHEELS OF FIRE is still just a 4yo and back down the weights he could be capable of a big run here under Silvestre De Sousa. He has run well at the track in the past and now just 3lb above his last winning mark he could surprise a few.Naana’s Sparkle has won two of his last three and showed a good attitude at Southwell last time. His overall profile is progressive and he could run a big race.Seven Questions has Jamie Spencer booked and he rode him to victory over C&D three starts back so another good run wouldn’t be a surprise. Bet on WHEELS OF FIRE each way at 28/1 with bet365 4.45 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (Colts And Geldings) (Class 2) (2YO only) 6fThis race very much revolves around promising colt LAUNCH SEQUENCE. He ran green on debut but flew home once the penny dropped and was only beaten a length at the line. He is sure to improve from that initial experience and should have a great chance to get off the mark now.Savage Mariner bumped into Libertango on debut but then failed to back that up at Royal Ascot. He still retains potential though and could emerge as the danger. Agrippa was only denied a neck at Newbury and is another one that should get involved here. Bet on LAUNCH SEQUENCE to win at 7/4 with Betfred 5.20 Bolney English Wine Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) (3YO plus) 1mLikeable filly ANNASTARZY just keeps improving and the horse she beat at Newbury has come out and franked the form since. She is 6lb higher again but with her form stacking up and this step back up to a mile looking ideal I think she can make it four wins in a row.Proposal remains unexposed and although she was disappointing at Windsor it is still early days and she could be capable of much better yet. Too Darn Hot filly Rumba Numba impressed winning at Doncaster and then ran well in a competitive race at Royal Ascot so should be able to get competitive again. Bet on ANNASTARZY each way at 9/2 with Coral 5.55 World Pool Bet With The Tote EBF Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) (3YO plus) 6fA tricky finale but I do think BINTARYANA is going to run a massive race here for William Knight and Luke Morris. She bumped into Jumeirah Sands at Southwell and then Noble Vow at Haydock before winning at York. She looks ahead of the handicapper with more to come over 6f and I’m surprised she is as big as 15/2 in the betting.Zen Diva is hard to work out as she is on a hat-trick now and despite a 6lb rise could still be well handicapped. Machadadorp should go well as her mark seems lenient and Secret History is another one that looks progressive enough to get involved. Bet on BINTARYANA each way at 13/2 with bet365 My top tip for day 1 of Glorious GoodwoodI have been counting down the days until Glorious Goodwood so hopefully we can kick off with a winning double! AL HUDAIBA impressed at Newmarket and looks on an upward trajectory and SCANDINAVIA should be able to confirm Royal Ascot form with Trawlerman in the big one. Bet a Win Double on AL HUDAIBA and SCANDINAVIA at 4/1 with bet365 About the authorJoe NorrisI’m Joe Norris, co-founder and Director of GetYourTipsOut (GYTO), which I launched in 2009 to provide daily sports betting tips, with the main focus on horse racing.
