The Buffalo Bills are entering a new era and are adding a new alternate uniform to their slate.2026 will be the first season in their state-of-the-art $2.2bn stadium, just a stone’s throw away from their old Highmark home. The new stadium will welcome Bills fans for a Week 2 game against the LionsYoutube @buffalobillsNot only have they got a new home, they have a new head coach in Joe Brady, following Sean McDermott’s departure at the end of 2025.There is plenty of anticipation already around their home opener, which comes in Week 2 with a high profile visit of Detroit – but while the vibes in Buffalo have been good – things have taken a turn.On Monday, the franchise revealed their “Nickel City” alternate uniforms with multiple social media posts. The jersey and pants are both grey, with the team’s colours: red, white and blue used for the players numbers. The blue “Charge Helmet” is arguably the most eye catching feature of their new digs, with oversized cutout of the team’s logo − namely the horn and eye and the stripe. The phrase “Go Bills” is placed in the inside collar of the jersey.“The design is a tribute to the strength, grit and authenticity of Western New York’s hard-working people throughout history,” the Bills said in a statement.“Visual inspiration came from the steel mills, grain elevators and rail yards, which are foundational to the city’s place in history. “It’s also a celebration of the blue-collar men and women who built the team’s new home, Highmark Stadium.”Fans of the franchise are certainly not impressed with the new look.View Tweet: https://t.co/nDja8yhTMWThe jersey and pants are predominantly grey on their new uniformsThe helmet design is catching most of the backlash on social media“Not a fan. One of the most boring, unimaginative bland alternates ever,” a fifth concluded. In 2025, the NFL adjusted it’s limit on how many times a team can wear it’s throwback or alternate jerseys to four (up from three).Joe Brady was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach in 2026GettyGiven the overwhelming wave of fan backlash surrounding the reveal, the team’s might think twice about using them in their full slate.Whether Brady’s squad can win over the skeptics by racking up victories in the new look remains to be seen.
