CITU holds bike rally to mobilise workers for protest on July 30 - The HinduPublished - July 28, 2026 07:30 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAMThe Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) organised a bike rally in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, urging workers to participate in a proposed protest at the Collectorate on July 30 to press for higher wages and better service conditions for contract, outsourcing and daily wage employees.Addressing participants, CITU district general secretary R.K.S.V. Kumar demanded implementation of a minimum monthly wage of ₹26,000, job security for contract and outsourcing workers, and minimum time-scale benefits for daily wage employees. He alleged that minimum wages had not been revised for the past 11 years and criticised governments for failing to adequately protect workers’ interests.He said the July 30 protest would also seek enforcement of an eight-hour workday and effective implementation of labour laws.The rally, organised by the CITU Maddilapalem zonal committee, passed through Maddilapalem Junction, Satyam Junction, Seethammadhara, MMTC Colony, MVP Colony, Appughar, Pedawaltair and Shivaji Park Road before concluding at Maddilapalem. CITU leaders P.
