I increased my OM 4 months ago and my hair keeps getting worst 🥺

Wait 5 sec.

JUNE (left): 26F with androgenetic alopecia. I used topical minoxidil from 2020–2025 and had great regrowth (almost back to baseline by 2023), but after a period of severe stress my hair started thinning again. In November 2025 I switched to oral minoxidil 1.25 mg + spironolactone 100 mg, then increased to oral minoxidil 2.5 mg and spironolactone 200 mg on April 6, 2026. Since increasing the dose, my part has gradually widened and I’ve been shedding a mix of long and short hairs daily. However, I’ve also had obvious hair growth elsewhere—my eyebrows are much fuller, my facial hair has increased, and the hair at the back of my neck has grown noticeably thicker. My ferritin (126), thyroid, CBC, and other labs are all normal. My dermatologist thinks this is likely a transition period but said it’s still too soon to know. JULY UPDATE (right): Good news I’ve started to see baby hairs coming up where the part is… bad news I keep on shedding long hair. I’m terrified that the baby hairs might shed as well. Rights now is the worst my hair has ever been. It’s never been this bad before in my life :( Has anyone experienced worsening shedding and a wider part for several months after increasing oral minoxidil? Did your hair end up growing eventually or did it continue to get worst until bald? I’m so scared I won’t ever grow it back submitted by /u/Imaginary-Low8465 [link] [comments]
