Workers on lower incomes will receive smaller payments according to the bands announced by the government. The scheme will also cover self-employed people, part-time workers and older people who continue working.“What we promise, we deliver,” Caruana told Parliament, confirming that the government would begin paying the bonus in the first quarter of next year. The announcement puts a payment date on one of Labour’s pledges during this year’s general election campaign.
