10 days after my Product Hunt launch: licenses went from 54 to 94, and I shipped Traffic Control for my Mac app

Wait 5 sec.

Follow-up to my Product Hunt post here last week. Thanks for all the comments on that one. Where it stands: - Licenses: 54 after Product Hunt, 94 now - The $4.99 launch price was for the first 100. People kept asking, so I extended it to 200 (106 left) - What sold since: Product Hunt kept selling for a week, a newsletter mention, and an r/macapps post with 7.4k views What shipped today, iKnowMyMac 1.7 Traffic Control: - Blocking, off until you turn it on. Right-click any connection and block this app, this domain or a whole country, for 5 minutes, an hour or always, or only on Wi-Fi you don't trust - Install Guard and Agent Guard: when npm, pip or brew installs reach outside their registries, or a coding agent contacts a domain no agent has used before, it holds the connection and asks you, with a plain explanation worked out on the Mac - A map of where your connections go, 12 months of history per app, tracker and malware blocklists, and encrypted DNS - Rules import from other Mac firewall apps Two design decisions I'd make again: - Fail open. If the app quits, connections are allowed again within seconds. A blocker that breaks your internet when it crashes gets uninstalled. - Never hang a build. If nobody answers a guard, it allows the connection after 60 seconds, or does what you chose. Apple silicon, macOS 15+. $4.99 one time, then $9.99, free updates. https://iknowmymac.com submitted by /u/deepaks612 [link] [comments]
