I built a shift pay calculator because I was always wondering what my next pay would look like

Wait 5 sec.

I kept finding myself guessing what my next pay would be, so I built WorkRate (https://workrate.me). You enter your shifts with start and finish times, your unpaid breaks and your own rates for weekdays, evenings, weekends and overnight, and it works out your paid hours and what the pay should come to. If a shift runs across two time bands, like a 5pm start that finishes at 11pm, it splits the hours and applies each rate. It’s aimed at Australian shift workers who want to see their pay coming before payday. It’s early and has limits. It uses the rates you type in rather than looking up your award, there’s no public holiday rate yet, and it assumes your unpaid break falls halfway through the shift. I’m working on those next. It’s a React app, and I’m trying to work out how to get the first users without spending money. If you’ve launched a small tool in a niche, I’d love to hear what worked for you. And if you try it and something looks wrong or confusing, tell me and I’ll fix it. submitted by /u/SHiFTY-0507 [link] [comments]
