Why am I seeing such backlash on the profession when so many want in??

Wait 5 sec.

I came across a WSJ article claiming that “nurses are quitting in droves, but also in high demand”. I’m not completely out of touch, I know that patients are demanding these days; along with physical and verbal assault, terrible ratios, etc. I’ve seen other posts on how nurses dread the profession, hate bedside, and glorifying COSTCO out of all places. Two entirely different things. Working at Costco is a JOB. Not a profession nor a career. I understand they have decent pay and good benefits, but to leave nursing for Costco? I don’t get it. I can’t stand 30 mins inside a Costco. I guess I just don’t understand if people hate nursing so much, why is it also so competitive to become one, and everyone and their mom STILL wants to be a nurse! Make it make sense! P.S I’m in CA, nurses here make so much! They’re NOT underpaid. Maybe I am out of touch with the rest of the country? I could never see myself going to work in a warehouse after having spent so much time and effort getting into nursing school, and passing boards. submitted by /u/keithm1012 [link] [comments]
