I built a platform to create your own index fund, optimize the weights and backtest it against any ETF

Wait 5 sec.

Side project that got out of hand. I kept wanting to answer questions like "what if I owned the S&P without the top 10?", "how much do my ETFs actually overlap?" or "what weights would've given me the smallest drawdown?", and the existing tools either cost a lot, ran on monthly data, or quietly ignored companies that went bust. So I built Indices Lab. You build a basket of up to 50 stocks or ETFs (or start from an ETF's holdings), let the optimizer find weights for your goal (Sharpe, drawdown, volatility...), and backtest it on daily total-return data with delisted stocks included. You can add costs, taxes and monthly contributions, check correlations and overlap with any ETF, compare up to 8 versions side by side, then track the winner forward with rebalance alerts. Hardest part by far was getting the data right: dividends, splits and companies that no longer exist. Looking for 10 people to use the top tier ($39/month) free for 3 months in exchange for blunt feedback. Happy to answer questions about building it too. indiceslab.com submitted by /u/Vegetable-Foot8257 [link] [comments]
