I shared TextFold here before. This update is about getting the page you are already reading into it. I want less text in front of me at once, with the detail still there when I need it. The new browser button sends an article to TextFold, where you can move between five reading depths and open an individual paragraph again. The demo shows the flow on Wikipedia, ending with a map of the article. The first two levels keep original sentences; the shorter three use AI. You choose the model, including local Ollama models. The extension captures the page when you click it, then hands it to the reader on your computer. One rough edge is installation. It needs the TextFold app running, and the Chrome Web Store submission is still in review. For now you install TextFold 0.10.40+, download the repository, and load its extension folder through Developer mode in chrome://extensions. Chrome, Edge and Brave work; Firefox is not supported yet. GitHub and setup (Apache 2.0): https://github.com/chenxiachan/textfold Try the reader without installing: https://chenxiachan.github.io/textfold/gallery/ Does the demo make the reading interaction clear? I'd like to know where you would want to stop folding and start reading. Welcome any feedback! submitted by /u/Lopsided_Scarcity979 [link] [comments]
