Glick, Full of Run Look to Cash Out on Alpine Princess at Keeneland November

Dann Glick and his Full of Run Racing partnership, now in its sixth year of operation, has enjoyed a banner year on the racetrack with a pair of graded stakes-winning fillies and a third graded-placed. The operation will look to transfer that success to the sales ring when it offers graded winner Alpine Princess (Classic Empire) (hip 217) through the Elite consignment during Book 1 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale next Tuesday.“Very hard,” Glick admitted when asked what it would be like to watch the filly he purchased as a yearling go through the ring at Keeneland next week. “When you have a filly that tries that hard and has that kind of talent, it's hard. She has speed that could go a distance, and she always gave it her best. And when she didn't, she had a reason. She's a horse you dream of. To be able to race 21 times and do it at a high level, they just don't come along very often.”A native of Louisville, Glick got his love of racing from his father.“My dad was a $2 bettor,” Glick, founder of the furniture import company Hillsdale Furniture, said. “And I fell in love with it from there.”His Right Time Racing partnership, the predecessor to Full of Run, was represented by both Bouquet Booth (Flower Alley) and Street Storm (Stormy Atlantic) in the 2011 GI Kentucky Oaks.“That was all family and close friends, and most of those, except for the family that's passed away, are still with me,” Glick said of the original partnership. “My closest friends–some that I've known since I was six years old–are still involved, which is amazing.”As the venture grew, Glick knew he needed to branch out and expand his available capital.“As I knew I needed to raise more money, I went out, and friends got friends in, referred me to friends, and we just kept building,” Glick said. “We've done pretty well doing it in a very kind of methodical type way.”Alpine Princess | Sarah AndrewRather than offering partners the opportunity to invest in individual horses, or packages of horses, Full of Run Racing has partners commit to an investment of a certain amount of money over a three-year period. This structure allows Glick the flexibility to buy and sell as he sees opportunities arise.“It allows me to plan,” Glick said of the structure. “It allows me to make the normal mistakes. And it allows me to have a shot at some good horses and adjust accordingly. We mainly buy fillies. Occasionally, we will take a piece of a colt. Depending on how we do, we can make decisions accordingly.”The current iteration of the partnership, Full of Run Racing II, has 21 partners, with four horses in training–all with Brad Cox–and has purchased four yearlings this fall.Leading the quartet is Alpine Princess, whom Glick purchased for $190,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September sale.“We just watched her as she came out of the stall,” Glick recalled. “She just has a tremendous amount of class. I think she's going to be her best advocate at the sale because she's just very, very classy.”The 5-year-old mare, who is co-owned with Madaket Stables, ended her 2025 campaign with a win in the GIII Falls City Stakes. She added the GIII Doubledogdare Stakes to her resume in April. On the board in 16 of her 21 starts, she has seven wins and earnings of $1,247,165.The mare, who has not started since the July 18 GII Molly Pitcher Stakes, will be offered Tuesday as a racing/broodmare prospect.“We purposely stopped on her and gave her a break,” Glick explained. “She's been jogging for a month, so she could go back into training if somebody wanted to. She's just been so good to us that we felt it was prudent to do it at this stage of her career.”Alpine Princess isn't the stable's only star this year. Sweet Treasure (Twirling Candy), co-owned with Frank Silva, won the GIII Mint Julep Stakes in May, while Yes It Tiz (Tiz the Law) was second behind Splendora in the GII Locust Grove Stakes and is entered in Sunday's Turnback the Alarm Stakes at Belmont.“We've had an incredible year this year,” Glick said. “You just don't have graded horses like that every year. Yes it Tiz is Grade II and Grade III placed. She is yet to get there, but we hope that we will next year. So we don't have to stop with a 3-year-old. We are going to run her next year. We ran Alpine as a 5-year-old and we are going to run Sweet Treasure and Yes It Tiz as 5-year-olds. That's the plan now.”Sweet Treasure | Coady MediaSelling a horse like Alpine Princess will allow the partnership to continue to race its younger fillies.“We will sell for economic reasons, but we like to race,” Glick said. “And when you are fortunate enough with one like Alpine Princess, it helps perpetuate it.”Faced with a competitive marketplace, Glick said partnering with other owners has become a regular part of his strategic planning.“We often partner with other groups because of the strength of the yearling market,” he explained. “We partner with other people when we go in, or we'll sell a piece as they move forward. The marketplace has made us do that.”Glick said one advantage of his investment structure is that it provides owners with plenty of action.“When you get new people in, you've got to wait and wait and wait,” Glick said. “And then you've got to provide some excitement to them. Our structure allows that to happen. If you get going and you have some momentum, you'll get horses from each year overlapping and you can have three or four starts a month. And that's the beautiful part about it that I never anticipated. When they get going, and they could be running for a claiming price or they could be running in stakes, you've always got some action.”The action will shift to the sales ring for the Full of Run partners when Alpine Princess heads through the ring at Keeneland Tuesday. The first session of the Keeneland November sale gets underway at 1 p.m. The auction continues through Nov. 11 with sessions beginning daily at 10 a.m.The post Glick, Full of Run Look to Cash Out on Alpine Princess at Keeneland November appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
