With Spurs’ interest in Nicolo Tresoldi at an all-time high, Spurs Web has taken a closer look at his numbers and compared them with those of Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush to understand why the striker is so highly coveted by the Lilywhites.Nicolo Tresoldi is one name heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur as Roberto De Zerbi looks to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window.Despite not being included in the five-man shortlist of potential January signings, the German youngster remains strongly linked with Tottenham. However, Spurs are not alone, with a host of clubs from both the Premier League and across Europe eyeing a move for the Club Brugge forward.Tresoldi will not come cheap, either, with reports suggesting the 22-year-old is valued at a staggering £42m should he be allowed to leave this winter. So why is he wanted by the Lilywhites? Spurs Web has crunched the numbers to find out.Photo by Joris Verwijst/Soccrates/Getty ImagesTottenham target Nicolo Tresoldi’s goalscoring numbers stand outMerely looking at Tresoldi’s numbers, it is not hard to see why he is so sought after ahead of the winter transfer window. His statistics make one thing clear: goals. The 22-year-old is on a hot streak and simply cannot seem to stop scoring at the moment. So far this season, Tresoldi has managed 12 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions, including four goals in three Champions League appearances.CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsMinutesJPL97–697′UEFA Champions League34–255′VW Supercup11–90′Croky Cup1––22′Total1412–1,064′What makes his rise even more impressive is that he is far from a one-season wonder. Tresoldi also produced outstanding numbers last season, registering 23 goals and nine assists in 58 appearances. And what about in the Champions League? He returned three goals in ten matches last campaign, scoring against Monaco, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. For a young striker, those are impressive figures and understandably have top clubs taking notice. For Tottenham, Spurs Web revealed the Lilywhites were present for one of Tresoldi’s best performances of the season against St. Truiden, where the 22-year-old scored a hat-trick.His numbers from that game tell us even more about the sort of player he is.StatTotalShots4Expected goals (xG)2.42Expected goals on target (xGOT)2.27Accurate passes16/22 (73%)Shots on target3Big chances missed1Touches35Touches in opposition box5Passes into final third1Accurate long balls2/3 (67%)Why Spurs view Tresoldi as a strong optionSo why are Tottenham interested? The answer seems fairly simple. Spurs need goals, and Tresoldi offers goals. While Tottenham have scored in recent matches, those goals have not consistently been coming from their forward players.Instead, they have been spread across the team. That is positive in one sense, but ideally you still want a primary goalscorer who can regularly put the ball in the back of the net. Think Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and players of that calibre. At the moment, Tottenham’s forwards have not reached those levels. Our analysis of Tottenham’s goalscoring record over the past decade suggests the club’s decline in the Premier League has coincided with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son‘s departure.Kane or Son finished as Spurs’ top scorer in eight of the last 10 seasons, while the South Korean ranked among the club’s top three goalscorers in nine of those campaigns.Kane reached at least the 29-goal mark on three occasions, scoring either 29 or 30 goals. By contrast, in 2025/26, a defensive midfielder and a centre-back ranked as Tottenham’s second and third-highest scorers.SeasonTop ScorerGoals2016/17Kane292017/18Kane302018/19Kane172019/20Kane182020/21Kane232021/22Son232022/23Kane302023/24Son172024/25Johnson112025/26Richarlison11Every season up to 2023/24, Tottenham had a 17-goal scorer. Since then, nobody has surpassed 11. Son held things together for one year after Kane left, then the drop came.SeasonTeam GoalsTop 3 GoalsTop 3 Share2016/17866171%2017/18745270%2018/19673958%2019/20613761%2020/21685175%2021/22694565%2022/23704564%2023/24743649%2024/25642945%2025/26482042%At their peak, the top three scored around 70% of Spurs’ goals, and 75% in 2020/21. That share has fallen to 42%, but not because goals are spread more evenly. Everyone is simply scoring less. Team goals fell from 86 to a ten-year low of 48.SeasonTop 3 GoalsTeam GoalsLeague Finish2016/1761862nd2017/1852743rd2018/1939674th2019/2037616th2020/2151687th2021/2245694th2022/2345708th2023/2436745th2024/25296417th2025/26204817thWhen you place the numbers of Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush alongside Tresoldi’s, the difference is clear.Combined, Marmoush and Solanke have one goal each this season. Put into perspective, Tresoldi has scored six times as many goals as the two Tottenham forwards combined. Is that enough to prove he is the answer? Not entirely. Of course, there is an argument that he is producing these numbers in the Belgian league, which is not as strong as the Premier League. That point is fair and must be considered. However, his Champions League numbers suggest he is capable of scoring against elite opposition.Tresoldi has faced Aston Villa, Inter Milan and RC Lens in his three Champions League appearances this season, scoring four goals across those matches. The only Champions League opponent against whom he failed to score was RC Lens. Those numbers suggest he could well adapt to the English top flight. At just 22, he does not need to arrive as an automatic starter. Allowing him to develop as an understudy and gradually earn minutes could be the ideal way to introduce him to the rigours of the Premier League.Tresoldi vs Solanke and Marmoush: 2026/27 goals by competition:StatTresoldiSolankeMarmoushClubClub BruggeTottenhamTottenhamAppearances14109Goals1221League goals7 (JPL)1 (PL)1 (PL)Champions League goals4––Domestic cup goals–1 (EFL Cup)–Super Cup goals1 (VW Supercup)––Assists–1–Goal contributions1231Minutes1,064′453′644′Minutes per goal89′227′644′READ MORE: Tottenham could attempt £67m double raid of Club Brugge in JanuaryThe post Tottenham transfer target Nicolo Tresoldi's goalscoring stats compared with Solanke and Marmoush appeared first on Spurs Web.
