I have gotten more involved in my town affairs over the past few months. Mainly due to some traffic issues, and been talking with a friend about how the town meetings, select board, traffic commission, etc. work. Most everything is available on the town website, but it is not exactly easy to follow, so I started collecting the information and trying to publish it in easier format. I have lot of the data sources figured out, but not sure about the editorial process and the style. Getting school board meeting agendas, minutes and budgets has been the messiest process. Of course in Massachusetts towns schools are the biggest, most expensive and maybe the most divisive issues. So, school related articles are just now starting to appear. See Civic Hum for Milton, MA. If I get this one working I've promised to add my friend's town next (another Massachusetts town). submitted by /u/ski3600 [link] [comments]
