XAUUSD: Is Gold Coiling for a Recovery Breakout?GoldOANDA:XAUUSDMMFlowTradingGold has recovered above 4,000, but the rebound is now compressing beneath a critical resistance zone. Can buyers turn this consolidation into a sustained recovery, or will another lower high emerge? MARKET OVERVIEW Monday's oil pullback helped ease inflation concerns and supported bargain-hunting in gold. The Fed decision and PCE release remain key event risks this week. A supportive headline alone will not confirm a technical breakout. H1 TECHNICAL CONTEXT The broader structure remains bearish following successive BOS during the decline. More recently, price has developed rising support beneath a descending consolidation boundary, forming a contracting triangle. This shows compression after the selloff. It does not yet establish a bullish reversal. The projected route allows for further movement inside the triangle before an upside breakout toward primary supply. KEY ZONES • Strong high: 4,198.943. • Swing high / Fibonacci 1.0: 4,142.742. • Primary overhead supply: approximately 4,080–4,097. • Retest & S/R pivot: approximately 4,025–4,035. • Snapshot price: 4,015.660. • Psychological reference: 4,000. • Weak low: 3,976.009. Unlabelled zone boundaries are estimated from the chart scale. Triangle boundaries are dynamic. BULLISH SCENARIO — BREAK, HOLD, EXPAND IF price breaks the descending triangle boundary and closes above 4,035 on H1, THEN a successful retest would strengthen the recovery scenario. Look for bullish M15 displacement and a defended higher low during that retest. TP1: The lower edge of primary supply near 4,080. TP2: The upper supply boundary near 4,097. These objectives require acceptance above the pivot. Repeated wicks into resistance without sustained closes would leave the breakout unresolved. An H1 close back below 4,025 after the breakout would weaken the immediate setup. Losing the actual retest higher low would invalidate that execution structure. The broader recovery thesis fails if price closes below 3,976.009 and cannot reclaim it. BEARISH ALTERNATIVE — COMPRESSION BREAKS LOWER IF price breaks rising triangle support and fails to recover it, THEN attention returns to 4,000. Acceptance below 4,000 would increase the risk of another test of 3,976.009. A bearish M15 structure shift during a failed retest would provide additional confirmation. An H1 close above 4,035 followed by a defended retest would invalidate a local triangle-rejection setup. If 3,976.009 breaks sustainably, the current chart does not provide a marked lower target. FIBONACCI CONTEXT The displayed 61.8% retracement sits near the lower boundary of primary overhead supply. That adds confluence to the recovery objective, while also identifying an area where sellers could respond. Reaching supply would not automatically confirm a broader trend reversal. MMFLOW VIEW The preferred chart route is a conditional corrective recovery, while the larger H1 structure remains bearish. The next useful evidence is acceptance outside compression: a breakout, a successful retest and a defended higher low. Define entry, structural stop and reward-to-risk from the actual confirmation. Will buyers secure the pivot, or will rising support give way first?
