I spent 2.5 years building software for the most boring business on earth: apartment buildings. It’s live!!!

Wait 5 sec.

Every apartment building is a tiny company nobody wants to run. Someone has to collect water meter readings from 47 flats, split the heating bill, chase the guy on the 4th floor who stopped paying in March, and explain it all at the annual meeting. In Estonia alone there are over 25,000+ of these associations, and most run on Excel, a Gmail inbox and one exhausted volunteer. So I built Premisio. One app that runs the whole building: units and residents, meter readings, documents, a building newsfeed with polls and events, an inbox per building, and full double-entry accounting with bank reconciliation and e-invoices (pilot January 2027). English, Estonian and Russian, because that is who actually lives in these buildings. The feature I’m proudest of: on reading day every resident gets an email with a personal link. Tap, type the number, done. No login, no app, no password. The design target is the 75-year-old on the ground floor. If she can’t use it, it’s wrong. Numbers, because this sub likes numbers: 70k lines of Go, 50k lines of Go tests, 70k lines of TypeScript 349 database migrations 1 server. The whole thing runs on a single Hetzner box. v1 was microservices on k3s with Ory and Cerbos, because that is what 15 years of enterprise work teaches you. Turns out building for a team of 400 is the wrong lesson for a team of one. I threw it away and rewrote it as one Go monolith. Best decision of the project. 😂 Pricing is dumb on purpose: free forever up to 5 units, €1 or $1 per unit per month after that, every feature included. Live at https://premisio.com. If you have ever sat on a condo or HOA board, tell me the one thing that made you want to quit. That is my roadmap. submitted by /u/aleyrizvi [link] [comments]
