Would the current userland + FS escalation exploit be sufficient to update the stock firmware on the switch 2 IF the console was banned (ie, would a way of sideloading it be possible?)

Wait 5 sec.

So the seedsow lullaby exploit requires the transfer of a modded save file from a modded switch 1 to the switch 2, and this transfer requires both consoles to be online and able to talk to nintendo servers - so this is almost guaranteed to get both consoles banned in a future ban wave. If the switch 2 firmware can be updated through the exploit, then the ban would be annoying but circumventable. If the current exploit however isn't sufficient and no kernel exploit is going to be found, then one would be stuck forever on the current firmware version and at some point all new games would become unplayable as they'd require a higher firmware version. So, my question is: Are the privileges of the current exploit sufficient to sideload new stock (or cfw) firmware versions in the future? I highly suspect the answer is no, in which case I don't consider it worth getting my switch 2 banned for now - but would be happy to hear otherwise. submitted by /u/MarinatedPickachu [link] [comments]
