I spent 2mo building & illustrating an app to help people put their phones down

Hi fellow builders and indie hackers! Throughout last few years I've had a love-hate relationship with my phone and social media. I love the inspiration, useful information and connection with friends it can give me. But also hate how often I pick up my phone, how I get stuck in watching random short-form videos that fry my brain. And on top of all this I seem to "not have the time" to do the things I really love, for me it's reading, making art, cycling, yoga, etc. And I know that so many others are struggling with this unhealthy relationship with their phone. So naturally I decided to build an app (and illustrate it myself). Be Analog (currently Android) is your cozy digital detox buddy. Choose an activity you want to do, set the timer and put the phone away. Every time you finish the activity, your plant grows. Eventually, you will have a lush virtual garden all thanks to your time offline 🌱. BeAnalog helps you make more room for the things you enjoy outside your phone. Roast my app. What's the biggest reason you wouldn't use an app like this? submitted by /u/Responsible-Key4106 [link] [comments]
