That was a mouthful lol, so let me explain. Normally, a lot of title matches are ‘we’re having a personal rivalry, but one of you is champion, so let’s just put the belt on the line as well’. Izzi has said that she will challenge for the North American Championship eventually, but that she just wants to break Zaria down first. Secondly, a lot of champions now enter #1 contender’s routes for other titles. This has always happened with the Rumble, but under HHH we’ve also had three United States Champions enter the Elimination Chamber and Money In The Bank (Logan Paul, Trick Williams and Jacy Jayne). In theory, a title can be defended inside the chamber or in a ladder match, however both reward the winner with a world championship opportunity. The same goes for Liv Morgan reaching this year’s Queen Of The Ring final as World Champion – in all cases, a prize was on the line, specifically a world championship opportunity (Liv would have earned a WWE Championship match had she won). Had one of her earlier matches been on a PLE, say the semifinal against Charlotte, then perhaps there would have been a case, but the winner would still have been awarded a future opportunity. Next, I’m not counting championships from AAA or TNA, as both are different promotions even though WWE owns one of them. Otherwise, Randy Orton squashed TNA World Champion Joe Hendry at WrestleMania 41, while AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio lost to Finn Bálor and Danhausen at ‘Mania and SummerSlam this year, respectively. While there’s been a stronger flow of talent between AAA and WWE, none of those guys were realistically going to begin working prominently outside of WWE’s main roster, and so it wouldn’t be fair to include them. Finally, SNME is not a PLE, otherwise Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca and John Cena vs. R-Truth from the last two May editions would also qualify. That’s just a minor technicality. Now, apparently the last time this happened was when US Champ Sheamus faced Ricochet at Backlash in 2021. However, if we aren’t counting kickoff shows as being part of the PLE, then we’d have to go further back to the Wyatt Swamp Fight between Universal Champion Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt at Extreme Rules 2020. What do you think? This isn’t particularly consequential, however it’s a fun piece of trivia I thought I’d share nonetheless. submitted by /u/Tornado31619 [link] [comments]
