Most free PDF/image sites upload your files to their servers. I didn't love that for things like ID cards, bank statements, or contracts, so I built toolbook. Everything runs in your browser: compress/merge/split PDFs, HEIC to JPG, compress an image to an exact size (like 100kb), audio/video conversion, QR codes, and more. No sign-up, no watermark, no upload. What was the most challenging: Released 120 different tools across 13 different categories. But building some Ai tools was most challenging where how you can run models in the browser. Also, how we show proof to users that nothing was actually uploaded to anywhere, so we introduced a little network recording that shows how many bytes are sent over the Internet during tool execution.
