Max Dowman’s sending-off against Fleetwood Town was just one of several signs that it was certainly not Arsenal’s day, as the youngster lost his head at a crucial moment. Surrounded by several senior players while the Gunners chased a winner, Dowman should have behaved better in the moment. As a teenager who is only beginning his career, Dowman cannot be blamed too heavily, because he still has a great deal to learn. However, the dismissal means he is now set to miss an important opportunity to claim a starting place in the team.A Costly MomentIt was already not his best performance if he was auditioning to replace Bukayo Saka on the right wing while the attacker is injured. Now, following his red card, Dowman will be unavailable for three matches, removing him from contention at a time when Arsenal may have needed additional options in attack. The timing is particularly frustrating for the youngster. A strong display against Fleetwood Town could have strengthened his case for further opportunities, but instead his loss of composure has left him watching from the sidelines. For a player trying to establish himself, discipline and decision-making are just as important as technical ability.(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)Suspension ImplicationsAs reported by Standard Sports, punishment for red cards in the League Cup can be applied to Premier League matches, which is bad news for Dowman. It means he will miss upcoming fixtures against Liverpool, Hull City and Newcastle United.Arsenal is not happy with his conduct during the game, although he was not at fault for the defeat. Had Arsenal been winning, as they should have been, Dowman may not have lost his head in the manner that he did. Even so, the incident serves as a reminder that young players must control their emotions under pressure.Dowman now has time to reflect on the lesson. When he returns, he must demonstrate greater maturity, composure and consistency if he wishes to force his way into Arsenal’s first-team plans._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
