BENVENUTO CELLINI (IRE) (c, 3, Frankel {GB}–Newspaperofrecord {Ire}, by Lope de Vega {Ire}), impressive winner of the G1 Irish Derby earlier this season, put a couple of disappointing performances in his two most recent starts behind him comprehensively with a convincing success in Saturday's GI Longines Breeders' Cup Turf. Map of Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), in off the also-eligible list was second ahead of the Coolmore partners' Diamond Necklace (Ire) (St Mark's Basilica {Fr}) in third. European raiders took down the top five placings.Off as the somewhat surprising 3-1 favorite exiting a fair ninth to Daryz (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Oct. 4, the homebred son of 2018 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf romper Newspaperofrecord took up a midfield position as the field sorted them out and was five back on the fence under the line for the first time Japan's Deep Monster (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) was asked to make the running by Tom Marquand after jumping one from the outside in the field of 14.Shuffled back a spot or two to race with only a couple of rivals behind as they raced into the final half-mile, Benvenuto Cellini was still on hold and was in need of some luck near the tail as they swung into the lane.Disappointed for a run three-sixteenths out, he found daylight between Tiffany (Ire) (Farhh {GB}) and stablemate Diamond Necklace inside the final furlong and stormed clear. He is the third Breeders' Cup winner for the mighty Frankel, the 24th for trainer Aidan O'Brien and a 19th for Moore.Lifetime Record: 10-5-1-2.O-Westerberg, Brant, Peter M., Magnier, Mrs. John, Smith, Derrick and Tabor, Michael B.; B-Coolmore & White Birch Farm SC; T-Aidan O'Brien BENVENUTO CELLINI (IRE) ruled the turf and stole the show in the @Longines #BreedersCup Turf!
